Welcome to this special issue of the newsletter, "Words of Hope," which begins our 3-year capital pledge campaign. This is the third century of faith-building on this holy site. If we are to go forward, like Drs. Glascock and DeVilbiss and the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth of old, then we need you to accomplish this mission of Faith. Our goal is to raise $175,000 over the next three years toward our basic capital expenses. This is a campaign for monies to meet some of the one-time capital needs that arise in an institution of this size and age. We are asking for help over a three year period. This request is different from our annual drive in the Fall that seeks to cover our on-going operating expenses. In this newsletter, we will outline our capital needs and give you a listing of what we still need to do to secure the building and the grounds. We will also present information from our annual budget and give you some details of how we have spent your donations these past years. What amazes us all is that we are able to do so much and still not have any debts outstanding or owe any bills to date. God is truly blessing this holy ground and all who come and go from here. I would like to share these reflections from a young man who made his retreat here at SOH in March of this year.: "Thanks a lot for allowing me to come to the Sanctuary of Hope for my Ad Altare Dei retreat on Ash Wednesday. I really had a great time, and had a good chance to pray and think about what I have learned about my faith from completing the AAD program. SOH is a special place to visit. I enjoyed the tour and also really liked the food and movie...I had my Board of Review the night after my retreat and I passed! Now I look forward to our Mass on June 1st in Topeka, where we receive our AAD medals...Thanks again!" |

I base my hope in the words of Jeremiah 29: 11-14. ‘When you find Me, I will change your lot.’ God has changed our lot beyond our wildest dreams!" |

| If you are able to make a pledge for capital expenses, please fill out the form on the back page of this newsletter. Please make checks payable to: Sanctuary of Hope. You can donate by using visa and/or master card or direct deposit by calling the office at 913-321-4673. If you have any questions and/or want to talk directly with our Business Manager, Jeff Seib or myself, Fr. Dennis Wait, then please ask for us when you call the office. Remember this is a three year capital needs pledge and doesn’t replace any annual operating pledge that you may have already made. Know that we appreciate all that you do. And for many of you, just your prayers, your volunteer services (which easily numbers in the 10,000’s of hours) and your presence here is what really makes a difference and this is equally appreciated from the bottom of our hearts. | ||

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you with your pledge and God will do so. I am so blest to be a part of so many talented, diverse and holy people today in this century of Faith. I pray that you too might take the time to go out and look at the sun, feel the gentle breeze, or smell the scent of cedar. If we could all stop to spend times like these with God we would be a richer people and be open more to what God wants to do in us.
