Sister
Mary Jo Kennedy, a Sister of Mercy for over 50 years, gave a
mini-retreat to associate members of Sanctuary of Hope on August 24
from one to three PM. Sister is active in ministry at Nativity Church
in Independence, in the Charismatic Renewal and does counseling and
healing services
The purpose of the retreat was to bridge the relationship between
live-ins and associate members of the community and to develop the
clear expectations of the need for prayer and service at SOH. Sister
focused on the call to holiness, praying with and for community
members, and on hospitality. Sister reminded us to keep a sense of
humor. Sister Quoted: “Anyone who kneels to God can stand up to
anything.”
Several of those present described their journey in Faith at
the regular meeting of the associates in the morning. SOH provided
lunch.
Jean Humphrey, Family Life Director of the Johnson County
section of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas will describe the
many ministries provided by her office on September 28 from 10AM to 12
Noon.
On October 26, World War II veteran Ray Heilinger will share
about his three missions as a navigator.
HEART
SPEAKS TO HEART
All are invited to Heart Speaks to Heart, an afternoon
retreat for inner healing and drawing close to Jesus on Sunday,
November 24, from 1 to 6PM. Father Dennis and other members of the
Sanctuary of Hope community will offer many forms of
prayer—–meditation, time alone (hopefully out of doors), small
group ministry, centering prayer and some thought to our vision for
the future. The day will close with a potluck supper. SOH will provide
the meat and drinks. Participants are asked to bring a dish to share.
Please call 913-321-HOPE (4673) by November 17 if you plan to attend.
